[Review] Snoopy Presents To Mom (And Dad), With Love Shares an Important Message About Holidays to Both Kids and Adults

Apple TV+ has another new entry in its Peanuts catalog with To Mom (and Dad), with Love. While this appears to be a Mother’s day special, everything is not what it seems.

The movie opens up with the Peanuts gang playing football and then remembering that Mother’s Day is tomorrow. While everyone is scrambling to find the perfect gift for their mom, Peppermint Patty is feeling sad, angry, and left out. She doesn’t have a mom, just her dad. After Marcie reminds her that there are different types of families and moms, Peppermint Patty tries to find the perfect gift for her dad, but finds out that the holiday is catered to moms. There is also a side story of Snoopy and Woodstock taking a journey to visit Woodstock’s mom.

The film has a very important message for children and adults alike: holidays aren’t a happy time for everyone. It can be a reminder of hard times or what someone doesn’t have. There is also the message that sometimes it can be hard to be different. Peppermint Patty says her dad calls her a rare gem, but when feeling sad about not having her mom, she says “sometimes I wish I wasn’t so rare.”

The film of course ends on a happy note, but I loved how this topic was played out in a children’s film. Holidays mean different things to different people and can be celebrated in any way you see fit.
