Hamilton, arguably the biggest musical of the 21st century, returned to Detroit after first showing here in 2019. While the show has been available on Disney +, this production and cast show that it’s still worth seeing in person.
Besides the incredible staging, choreography, and music (my favorites are “Schuyler Sisters” and “Room Where it Happens”), what stands out about the show is the diverse cast. Usually, history is told and retold time and time again through a white gaze, but seeing people of color play these historic figures makes it even more compelling.
Be sure to bring money for the great merchandise. You’ll want a souvenir to commemorate this show.
