The Long Long Night, the TV series that premiered at Tribeca, is about two childhood friends and one disastrous night in a motel room, stars real-life childhood friends Mark Duplass and Barret O’Brien. Over six episodes, we see these friends try to embrace adulthood and accountability, with not the best results.

I talked to Barret O’Brien, who wrote, directed, and starred in the show along with Mark Duplass and Karen Pittman, about premiering at Tribeca, how he became friends with the Duplass brothers as teenagers in New Orleans, the process of making this TV show, and why he decided to go the TV route instead of a movie for this story.
