The best activation creates a totally immersive experience. That you feel like you’re transported to a different place or even time, and feel like a character within a fictional universe. AMC delivered just that with its Street of Immortality activation at the Hilton Gaslamp Hotel.

After entering the 20th-century French Quarter, visitors are immediately ushered into Foucault Hall. There the barkeep tells a story of beings who don’t age walking around New Orleans, and if you take the Immortal Elixer, you will also live forever. After taking a shot of the elixer (which is Pom pomegranate juice, orange juice, and cinnamon) you walk around Storyville. Using the map that was handed out before, you visit haunts around town, including the Talamasca Office, where you can get inducted into the secret society that reports supernatural activity. You even get a notebook to report such activities. At Mayfair Talismans, run but the witches themselves, you choose a talisman for protection. Visitors got to choose amongst sage with a spell on how to use it, bay, rosemary, or mint gris gris. At Nawlins Records, you got the sheet music for Lestat’s song “Come To Me.” The rest of the street includes street performers like tap dancers, a painter, and townspeople telling stories about supernatural activities. Outside of 1132 Rue Royal, people leave talismans to protect against evil.

The Street of Immortality had everything you wanted out of a great activation, buzz and excitement for the upcoming seasons of Mayfair Witches and INterview with the Vampire, great swag including posters, a tote bag, and the items you collected along the way, great actors who never broke characters, and had excellent photo opps.

Although this Comic Con was missing the stars of the show due to the strike, activation like this did help make up for their absence.
