Little Wing, the new Paramount + movie starring Brooklynn Prince and Brian Cox, is about an unlikely friendship between teen Kaitlyn and veteran Jaan Vari who bond over pigeon racing after Kaitlyn steals Jaan’s prized bird.

Starring in LITTLE WING are Brian Cox (Succession) as Jaan, the pigeon racer; Kelly Reilly (Yellowstone) as Maddie, Kaitlyn’s mom; Brooklynn Prince (Cocaine Bear) as Kaitlyn; and Che Tafari (Me Time) as Adam, Kaitlyn’s classmate and friend.

I talked to the director Dean Israelite about making the city of Portland a character, working with pigeons, and the music he was into as a teen.
