The Spiderwick Chronicles, the TV series based on the best-selling series, is about the Grace family. Twins Jared and Simon could not be more opposite; Jared is an introvert who has been labeled as the bad kid while Simon is known for his gentle nature. Mallory is a competitive fencer who never lets anyone see her sweat while their mother Helen is dealing with a divorce. After the family moves to the Spiderwick estate to Jared to see a new psychiatrist, the family must protect the family Field Guide that Mulgarath, an evil orge, is trying to get to eat their whole town.

The Spiderwick Chronicles stars Joy Bryant as Helen Grace, Lyon Daniels as Jared Grace, Noah Cottrell as Simon Grace, Mychala Lee as Mallory Grace, Jack Dylan Grazer as the voice of Thimbletack, Christian Slater as Mulgarath, and Alyvia Alyn Lind as Calliope.

I talked to Lyon Daniels about what songs he played to get into Jared’s headspace, why he thinks Jared is the way he is, learning the twin language, and which fictional character he would love to play.
