“Hotel Cocaine” is the latest series from creator Chris Brancato, the brains behind “Narcos,” “Narcos: Mexico,” and “The Godfather of Harlem.” This series set in the ’70s is about the Hotel Mutiny and its manager, Roman Compte. While he’s used to being around drugs at work, he gets deeper into the game when he’s blackmailed into working with his drug kingpin brother, Nestor.

Hotel Cocaine stars Danny Pino, Yul Vazquez, Mark Feuerstein, Corina Bradley, Laura Gordon and Tania Watson. Hotel Cocaine had its premiere at the ATX TV Festival.

I talked to creator Chris Brancato and director and executive producer Guillermo Navarro about creating the visual world of Hotel Cocaine, creating a show inspired by executive producer Maurice Compte’s real father Roman Compte, but not having it be a true story at all, and why shows about the drug business are so popular.

Hotel Cocaine airs on Sundays on MGM +.
