In My Lady Jane, a retelling of the events surrounding the life of Lady Jane Grey and her family, her mother, Lady Frances, will do anything to get her daughters married off and get money and power. It premiered at Tribeca Film Festival.
Lord Dudley has the same mindset when it comes to his son Edward. My Lady Jane stars Emily Bader as Jane Grey, Edward Bluemel (Killing Eve) as Guildford Dudley, Jordan Peters (Pirates) as King Edward, Dominic Cooper (Preacher) as Lord Seymour, Anna Chancellor (Pennyworth) as Jane’s mother, Lady Frances Grey, and Rob Brydon (The Trip) as Lord Dudley, Guildford’s father, Jim Broadbent (The Duke) as the Duke of Leicester, Jane’s uncle, Henry Ashton (Creation Stories) as Guildford’s brother, Stan, and Isabella Brownson (Napoleon) and Robyn Betteridge (Wheel of Time) as Jane’s sisters, Kate O’Flynn (Landscapers) and Abbie Hern (Enola Holmes 2) as the King’s sisters Princess Mary and Princess Bess respectively, and Máiréad Tyers (Extraordinary) as Susannah. Creator Gemma Burgess (Brooklyn Girls trilogy) is co-showrunner/executive producer and Meredith Glynn (The Boys) is co-showrunner/executive producer.
I talked to Anna Chancellor, who plays Lady Frances Grey, and Rob Brydon, who plays Lord Dudley, about which animal they would transform into, if the characters want money or power more, what’s the hardest part about being in a period piece, and what advice they would give to their characters.
