Moulin Rouge! The Musical is based on the 2001 movie by Baz Luhrmann starring Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor. The jukebox musical uses modern songs to tell the story love story during the turn of the 20th century of Christian and Satine. Christian just moved to Paris from Ohio, looking to write a musical. Satine is a dancer at the Moulin Rouge who is looking for a way out of her hard life. Although she is due to marry The Duke, Christian and Satine try to have a secret relationship. Can love, truth, beauty, and freedom endure it all?

I talked to Christian Douglas, who plays Christian, about how he and Christian are alike, Christian and Satine’s instant connection, if he thinks Christian would be okay just being Staine’s lover, and the musical he is writing.
