“Carved,” based on the 2018 short, is about a mutated pumpkin who is set on getting revenge on the town. Kira, who is dealing with a broken heart, is fighting with her fellow townspeople to survive the night.

I talked to Peyton Elizabeth Lee, who plays Kira, and writer and director Justin Harding, about how the movie is different from the short, how Kira dealing with a broken heart makes her more prepared to deal with the mutated pumpkin, Kira’s passion for being a director and if that is separate for Cody’s love of being an actor, and the hardest part of shooting in the dark and with all the elements.
