“Cruel Intentions” is based on the classic ‘90s film. This time around, instead of taking place in New York City, it’s set in an elite college in Washington D.C. Step siblings Caroline and Lucien are a part of the top fraternity and sorority. After a hazing scandal and pushback on the Greek system, Caroline is trying to save face, and the perfect way to do that is by recruiting the Vice President of the United States daughter, Annie. With help from her stepbrother (and an odd wager), Caroline might keep her spot on the top.
“Cruel Intentions” stars Sarah Catherine Hook as “Caroline Merteuil”, Zac Burgess as “Lucien Belmont”, Savannah Lee Smith as “Annie Grover”, Sara Silva as “Cece Carroway”, John Harlan Kim as “Blaise Powell”, Khobe Clarke as “Scott Russell”, Sean Patrick Thomas as “Professor Hank Chadwick”, and Brooke Lena Johnson as “Beatrice Worth”.
I talked to showrunners Sara Goodman and Phoebe Fisher about why they decided to set the show in a college Greek system, would they ever consider adding another original cast member to the show, nods to the original movie, their favorite characters, and if they ever consider changing the terms of the step-siblings wager.
