Dora the Explorer is back and ready for her next adventure! In her second live-action movie, Dora is on the hunt for Sol Dorado, an ancient treasure that allows whoever finds it to make a wish that will come true. However, she faces obstacles when she also has to make sure Sol Dorado doesn’t get in to the wrong hands. Luckily, her cousin Diego and new friends Naiya and Sonny are along for this adventure.

The movie stars Samantha Lorraine as Dora, Jacob Rodriguez as Diego, Mariana Garzón Toro as Naiya, Acston Luca Porto as Sonny, Daniella Pineda as Camila the Crusader, and Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias, as the voice of Boots.

I talked to director Alberto Belli about designing iconic parts of the Dora the Explorer world, including Boots, Swimper, Backpack, and Map, why Diego is so supportive of Dora and Dora has trouble realzing she doesn’t give Diego the same support, what he thinks adult Dora would be up to, and why Dora is still such an icon 25 years after her debut.

Dora and the Search for Sol Dorado is now streaming on Paramount +.
