On Season 4 on Power Book III: Raising Kanan, Kanan’s grandma Joyce has cancer, but it is only revealed after Kanan has to pick her up from the hospital. After Kanan encourages her to tell the rest of the family, she doesn’t get the warm response she hopes for, with Raq lashing out and walking out of the family dinner.

I talked to Sharon Washington, who plays Joyce Thomas, about why Joyce connects to Kanan the most, if Joyce ever planned on telling anyone she was sick, how she hoped the dinner would have went, and how Joyce and Raq are alike.
