The Gray House is based on the true story of how four women helped changed history but helping enslaved people and the Union during the American Civil War.

The Gray House stars Mary-Louise Parker, Daisy Head, Amethyst Davis, Ben Vereen, Paul Anderson, Ian Duff, Hannah James, Robert Knepper, Christopher McDonald, Colin Morgan, Rob Morrow, Colin O’Donoghue, Sam Trammell, and Keith David.

I talked to Christopher McDonald, who plays Thomas McNiven, about why he decided to take on a role that is different from the typical character that he’s known for. I asked Hannah James, who plays Clara Parish, what it was like to do Clara’s big song and dance number in the bar. I talked to both of them about what place in a book they would love to visit.

The Gray House is now streaming on Prime Video.
