At the end of season one, Mississippi (Shannon Thorton) pulled a gun out on Diamond (Tyler Lepley’s from Harlem) to protect her abusive boyfriend and Lil Murda (J. Alphonse Nicholson) continued to dismiss Uncle Clifford in public. I talked to J. Alphonse Nicholson (Just Mercy) and Shannon Thorton (Power) about their characters’ relationships, how they channeled playing a stripper and rapper, and their backstories.
