Power Book III: Raising Kanan Season 2 saw Jukebox’s (Laverne) mother, Kenya, return. Jukebox was doing anything to fit into her mother’s church-oriented world, including changing how she dresses and dating a boy, just to get her mother’s love.
However, once Kenya suspected Jukebox was gay, she got the church involved and subjected Jukebox to violent conversion therapy.
I talked to LeToya Luckett about playing Kenya, shooting that heartbreaking scene, and playing characters that always mix things up.
