Tina: The Musical, the Tony award-winning musical based on the life of Tina Turner, is currently touring and is now playing the Detroit Opera House.

I talked to Roz White, who plays Tina’s mom, Zelma Currie, about portraying this complicated character, how she relates to Tina’s story, how Jenifer Lewis influenced her, her favorite Tina songs, and being a part of a largely Black production.
