[San Deigo Comic-Con] Quantum Leap’s Activation Was Like a Miniature Universal Studios Ride in the Middle of San Diego

Quantum Leap, which season two premieres this fall, had one of the most fun and immersive activations at San Diego Comic-Con.

After entering Qutuam Leap HQ, you go through onboarding as a recruit, which includes a body scan and a video message from Ben Song himself explaining that you will be leaping into different NBC Universal shows. First, we were transplanted into the streets of NYC, helping to collect evidence to solve a crime. Next, we enter auditions for The Voice, where you sing with the other recruits, hoping to get the judge to spin their chair around. After, your team is zipped into a toy factory to make sure there aren’t missing any Chucky dolls. Of course, anything related to Chucky involved a scary little twist.

In the end, you collect a Quantum Leap pin, which is fitting since how popular I learned pins are at San Diego Comic-Con. You also get your “dossier” emailed to you which includes your leaper ID and video and video reaction of the Chucky jumpscare.

What I loved about this activation was how enthusiastic the actors were in their roles. They were very committed to making each TV show feel real, even when it was a bit silly. Also, it was great that Raymond Lee, who plays Ben Song, prerecorded something before the strike since actors were missing during this Comic-Con.

Overall, the activation felt like a smaller-scale Universal Studio ride, stepping it up from other activation which is often just photo opps.

You can catch up on Quatuam Leap, Law and Order franchise, The Voice, Chucky on Peacock, and the NBC site.
