Acapulco is back with season three and picks up right where we left off. Hugo finds out that his uncle Maximo has a daughter, while back in the 80s Young Maximo is finally with Julia while taking a new leadership role at Los Colinas.

Acapulco stars Eugenio Derbez, Enrique Arrizon, Fernando Carsa, Damián Alcázar, Camila Perez, Vanessa Bauche, Regina Reynoso, Raphael Alejandro, Jessica Collins, Rafael Cebrián, Regina Orozco and Carlos Corona, with recurring guest stars Jaime Camil (“Schmigadoon”) and Cristo Fernández (“Ted Lasso”) joining for season three.

I talked to Acapulco writers and executive producers Austin Winsberg and Sam Laybourne about the decision to have the show be mostly in Spanish, how they decide which songs for the pool band to sing, and why it seems like Hugo doesn’t age.

Acapulco is now streaming on Apple TV + with new episodes Wednesdays.
