Goldie, the new Apple TV + series is about a giant girl named Goldie. She lives in Boysengberg, where she has adventures with her best friends Teeny and Petey and is raised by her parental figure, a bird named Romeo. In Boysengberg we see there is nothing wrong with taking up space.

The series voice cast including Jessica McKenna (“The Mighty Ones”), Emmy Award nominee Dee Bradley Baker (“Phineas & Ferb”), Amari McCoy (“Spidey and His Amazing Friends”), Vedanten Naidoo (“Little Girl, Little Boy”), Grey DeLisle (“The Fairly OddParents”) and James Sie (“Stillwater”). “Goldie” also features guest stars Henry Winkler, Al Yankovic, Nicole Byer, Cree Summer, Carlos Alazraqui, Maulik Pancholy, Maria Bamford and more.

I talked to Goldie creator Emily Brundige about expanding her short into a series and if that was always the intention, how the 2016 election inspired her to create a girl that takes up space, how she decided Romeo the bird would be Goldie’s parental figure, who her favorite character to write for is other than Goldie, and if she was an animated character, what would her outfit be.

Goldie premieres on February 14th on Apple TV +.
