On The Pitt, many characters are experiencing their first day as doctors in the emergency room, including Dr. Mel King, a second-year resident who recently put her sister in a care facility.

The Pitt stars Noah Wyle (Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch), Tracey Ifeachor (Dr. Collins), Patrick Ball (Dr. Langdon), Supriya Ganesh (Dr. Mohan), Fiona Dourif (Dr. McKay), Taylor Dearden (Dr. King), Isa Briones (Dr. Santos), Gerran Howell (Whitaker), Shabana Azeez (Javadi), Katherine LaNasa (Dana Evans).

I talked to Taylor Dearden, who plays Dr. Mel King about which doctor she would choose as her own, more about her character’s backstory that we don’t know, why Mel put her sister in a care facility, filming the heartbreaking scene where Mel has to tell the little girl about the passing of her sister, and why Dr. King was better equipped to deal with the patient that has autism than Dr. Langdon.

The Pitt is now streaming on max, with new episodes on Thursdays.
