After having a sneak peek at ATX TV Festival and a premiere at Tribeca Film Festival, We Were Liars is available to all the fans, who made the book that the series is based on a Tumblr, now TikTok sensation. Candence and Gat are friends turned lovers who have spent all their summers together since they were eight years old. Which leaves Candence confused after a tragic accident when Gat and her cousins don’t visit her in the hospital or even check to see if she’s okay. She goes back to her family’s private island to confront them and to finally get answers.

The series stars Emily Alyn Lind as Cadence Sinclair Eastman, Shubham Maheshwari as Gat Patil, Esther McGregor as Mirren Sinclair Sheffield, Joseph Zada as Johnny Sinclair Dennis; alongside Caitlin FitzGerald as Penny Sinclair, Mamie Gummer as Carrie Sinclair, Candice King as Bess Sinclair, Rahul Kohli as Ed Patil, and David Morse as Harris Sinclair.

I talked to Emily Alyn Lind about whether she thinks Candece’s views would have changed if Gat wasn’t around, and why Candence never visited Gat in New York City. I talked to Shubham Maheshwari about why Gat stole from the bodega, and if Gat hadn’t gone to India if he would he have been as outspoken, or if he had just grown tired of the poor treatment he was receiving and the naive outlook of Cadence and the other liars.

We Were Liars is now streaming on Prime Video on Amazon.
