We Were Liars, the new Prime Video series based on the best-selling book, really kicked off the summer with a bang. It had a sneak peek at ATX TV Festival and then premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. In the series, Harris Sinclair rules his family with an iron fist. Ed Patil, the long-time boyfriend of the eldest daughter, Carrie, and uncle to Gat, one of the liars, is trying to fit into the family, and maybe even make things more official.

The series stars Emily Alyn Lind as Cadence Sinclair Eastman, Shubham Maheshwari as Gat Patil, Esther McGregor as Mirren Sinclair Sheffield, Joseph Zada as Johnny Sinclair Dennis; alongside Caitlin FitzGerald as Penny Sinclair, Mamie Gummer as Carrie Sinclair, Candice King as Bess Sinclair, Rahul Kohli as Ed Patil, and David Morse as Harris Sinclair.

I talked to Rahul Kohil about why Ed still brings Gat to the island even though he knows the Sinclairs are toxic and what advice he would give to Ed if he were a friend or family member. I talked to David Morse about whether Harris secretly likes that his daughters didn’t live up to their potential because it gives him more control, and why Cadence is his favorite grandchild.

We Were Liars is now streaming on Prime Video on Amazon.
