Difficult Girls, the debut novel from Veronica Bane, is about Greta, a high schooler who takes a job at an amusement park to have a fresh start after having a rough year. However, she finds herself solving a 20-year-old murder and finding a missing girl after the star of the amusement park’s show goes MIA. Can she solve the mystery, find the girl, and keep her past in the past?

Veronica Bane just finished her book tour, which included speaking on the “Joy and Resistance” panel at San Diego Comic-Con.

I talked to author Veronica Bane about balancing her teaching career with writing books, writing Difficult Girls after the death of her mother, why Greta cares so deeply about everything, who she would cast in a TV adaptation of the series, and what she envisions for a special edition of Difficult Girls.
