In season 3 of Invasion, we meet Verna, played by Erika Alexander, the leader of an organization that believes that the government is lying and that the aliens aren’t all bad. In Season 3, episode 6, “Marilyn,” which gets the title from her real name, Marilyn, we learn more about Verna’s backstory, life before the Invasion, and why she thinks the aliens are good.

I talked to Erika Alexander about what she thinks Marilyn/Verna is hearing is real or a response to grief, why Marilyn’s natural leadership abilities came out in this situation, if this organization is a cult, and if she thinks she will receive an Emmy for this role, and what truly matters to her.
