Miles Away, the film written, directed, and starring Jackie Quinones, is about Jessica, an Uber driver in LA who is also trying to make it as a filmmaker. She is also dealing with a sister with an addiction problem, and a family that is dependent on her to be the rock and solve the problem. While Jessica is optimistic, we see over the course of a day at work the toll all of this is taking on her. The film screened at the Austin Film Festival.

Miles Aways stars Andre Royo (The Wire), Luis Guzmán (Wednesday), Noel Gugliemi (The Fast and The Furious), Alberto Frezza (Station19), Norma Maldonado (Jane the Virgin), Henri Esteve (Grown-ish), Jennifer Bartels (American Woman), Eddie Martinez (The Sinner), Jessica Sarah Flaum (The Tale), Marilyn Camacho (Never and Again) and Charo Toledo (East Los High).

I talked to writer, director, and star Jackie Quinones, who plays Jessica, and Andre Royo, who plays George, about Jessica and George’s relationship, why their characters didn’t work out, if George considered going back to Jessica, and if they ever saw each other again. We also talked about which ride was most challenging for Jessica, Jackie’s experience as an Uber driver, what was harder, being an Airbnb host or an Uber driver, and what she thinks her character is up to now.
