The Varnell Hill Show, a spin off of “Martin,” is about Varnell Hill, a veteran talk show host who’s shows been on the air for 30 years. But when a new producer, Rachel, is brought in to liven up the show, Varnell is resistance, even though Rachel may just be what the show needs to stay on air.

The Varnell Hill show stars Tommy Davidson, Kym Whitley, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Nick Cafero, Emmanuel Hudson and Chris Williams, with special appearances by Martin Lawrence and guest stars including Ms. Pat, Deon Cole, Damon Wayans, Mike Epps, Omarion and many more.

I talked to Wendy Raquel Robinson about Varnell’s and Rachel’s dynamic reminding her of old school sitcoms like “Cheers” and “Seinfeld,” if Varnell would be more open to Rachel’s suggestions if she was a man, and breaking the 4th wall. We also talk about what Rachel’s career was like before joining The Varnell Hill Show, Wendy’s own relationship with social media, how it was like filming the roast of Varnell Hill, and who are her dream guest stars on the show.
