Drake officially announced the release date to his next studio album “Views From The Six” on OVO Radio. It will be released at April 29, with the album being an Apple Music exclusive upon initial release. Drake did not state when it will be available to retailers and other streaming services.
Drake’s follow up album to 2013 “Nothing Was The Same” has been teased for quite some time. One of the first times he referred to Toronto as the Six was on “0 to 100/The Catch Up,” which he released on SoundCloud on June 1 2014 with the line
The Six ain’t friendly but it’s where I lay up
He then released the song “6 God” in October 2015. His 2015 mixtape “If You Are Reading This Its Too Late” featured various references to the 6. He also mentioned working on the album “Views From The 6” on his Meek Mill diss track “Back To Back” with the line.
I took a break from Views, now it’s back to that
The announcement of the release date of “Views from The 6” comes after Drake released two singles “One Dance” and “Pop Style” earlier this week. You can check out the trailer for “Views From The 6” below.
