Jessie Reyez brought her Yessie tour to Detroit at the Fillmore. The crowd was ready to say Yes to Jessie, with many fans wearing Yessie merch hats before the show even started.

The first opening act was fellow Torontonian Leila Dey. She sang songs off her debut EP Detour. With this being her first tour, it will be amazing to see her continuously grow.

Up next was Nija. She admitted that although you might not be familiar with her as an artist, you know a lot of the songs she’s written, including Ariana Grande’s “positions” and Chris Brown and Drake’s “No Guidance.” This is also her first tour and is excited to share her own music. While she’s used to being behind the scenes, she’s obviously made for the spotlight.

Jessie Reyez, known for mostly R&B-leaning songs, rocked out and headbanged to her opening songs “Mood” and “Shutter Island.” She then sang songs through her entire catalog, from Kiddo to her most recent release Yessie. My favorite with “Only One” and “Forever.” She was pretty comfortable with the audience, spending a lot of time talking to them between songs. Her encore showed that her pen shouldn’t be messed with by performing Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa hit “One Kiss,” which she wrote.
